Camp Clog 2024
Well Camp Clog 2024 was better than ever, we had a bit of rain but that didn’t put us off! Back at the fabulous Camp Plas.

This is what we did in 2024 (scroll down for more photos):
- Clogging Music – Making music with our hands and our feet, a rhythmic game to start the weekend for musicians and dancers.
- Beginners’ clog – what it says on the tin.
- Playing for step/clog dancing – which tunes, and how to play them, will get dancers on their feet?
- Appalachian flatfooting – steps and tunes from across the pond.
- Rapper sword dancing – it does have some proper stepping.
- “Politics” of tradition and authenticity – sometimes we have little breakout discussions.
- Social dancing with stepping – some old dances and experimenting with some new ones.
- Dancing with what you’ve got – tips for loosening up and letting go with whatever skill level and step vocabulary you already have, you don’t even have to stand up!
- Playing in sessions – building skills and confidence for musicians new to playing in sessions.
- Welsh clog dancing – with two Welsh clog dancer stars at Camp Clog 2024 how could we not? (Camp Clog does take place in Wales after all!)
- Dancing to unusual rhythms – this one was the musicians’ idea and they got us to try some fiendish rhythms, stepping in 7/8 anyone?
- Singing and stepping – joyful with lots of wonderful one to one musician-dancer pairings.
- Cape Breton and Scottish stepping – across the pond and back again?
- Tunes for stepping – going through some tunes to see who’ll get up and dance
- Freestyling in clogs – letting go of routines and going with the musical flow.
Plus of course:
- Catching up with old friends and making new ones.
- Lots of music.
- Gorgeous food, including cake of course!
- Entertaining warm-ups for everyone on both mornings.
- Music and dance parties both evenings.
These amazing photos (from the equally amazing Ben Potton) should give you a flavour of the event.
