Camp Clog 2022

Camp Clog 2021

Camp Clog was launched in 2021 by Toby Bennett and Jen Cox. It was an idea which Toby had been hatching for a while, to create an opportunity for step/clog dancers and musicians to share their skills and experience, and to make music and dance together in an informal, social context. At the heart of it was putting music and dance on an equal footing.

As a result of the pandemic, a void in the step dance calendar appeared, so Toby and Jen seized the opportunity to pilot the idea. The event was organised quickly on a low budget, and was held entirely outdoors to provide a Covid-safe environment in Derbyshire.

Due to the success of the 2021 event, it was decided to establish Camp Clog as a new fixture in the step/clog/music calendar. Camp Clog has now enlisted Jo Taylor and Sara Rose to the small but perfectly formed committee. All four amazing people are passionate about step, clog and music and are all advocates for social dancing and music-making, and having fun.

Camp Clog 2022 saw a move to Camp Plas, a wonderful campsite in rural Powys, it was a slightly larger and even more immersive event since it all took place on one site. For Camp Clog 2024 we’re returning again to Camp Plas for more of the same, celebrating the richness and diversity of stepping and musicality in a creative, nurturing, and supportive environment. There will of course also be cake!
